About Touristoo

A city-by-city travel guide to India, Spain, Thailand, France and Singapore, built around four questions people actually ask before a trip: where to photograph, what to wear, what to eat, and where to eat it.

Why this exists

The generic travel listicle is finished. “Top 10 places in Jaipur” is a question any chatbot answers instantly and for free, and it was never a very good answer anyway — it tells you a fort exists, not that the stone only has colour in it for the hour after sunrise, or that the ticket desk closes well before the gate does.

What survives is the specific: the detail you can only get from someone who has stood there. So that is what this site collects, per place rather than per city — the hour a spot works and the angle worth walking to, the outfit that suits both the season and the local dress norms, the dish a place is known for and the room that actually does it well.

How it is put together

Every city page is built from structured data rather than written prose, which is what lets the itinerary planner assemble a connected, time-of-day-aware day plan instead of listing attractions in whatever order they were entered.

The practical guides — safety, what to pack, getting around, budget, etiquette — start from regional guidance that holds across a state, and gain a “Local notes” block once we have researched and sourced something genuinely specific to that city: a permit, an enforced dress code, a named local scam, a closure that quietly wrecks an itinerary. Those notes are the part worth reading, and the part we are slowest to add, because each one is checked against real sources.

What we deliberately don’t do

  • Promise a price. Entry fees and price ranges are shown as we last found them. They change faster than anyone can re-check them, so treat a number as a guide and the ticket counter as the final word.
  • Give exact festival dates. Most follow lunar calendars and move by weeks each year, so we give the window and tell you to confirm.
  • Pad a city we haven’t researched. A missing local note means we have not verified anything worth adding. Filler that looks like knowledge is worse than an honest gap.
  • Publish an AI advisory unchecked. News advisories are labelled and linked to their source, and anything that contradicts the season or another live advisory for the same city is held for review rather than published.

Start somewhere

Pick a city and the four sections will make more sense than any description of them does. The help page covers how the itineraries and advisories work, and photographs are attributed on the credits page.
