About Ujjayanta Palace

Ujjayanta Palace is the former royal palace of the Manikya kings, built around 1901 by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya. Its white front, domes and tall central tower make it the best-known building in Agartala. The palace stands behind two large ponds and a formal Mughal-style garden, right in the centre of the city.

Since 2013 the palace has housed the Tripura State Museum, with galleries on the history, tribes, crafts and culture of Tripura and the wider Northeast. The Jagannath and Lakshmi Narayan temples stand in the same grounds, so you can see all three in one visit.
