About Alappuzha Beach
Alappuzha Beach is the town beach of Alleppey, a long, wide stretch of sand facing the Arabian Sea. Its best-known feature is the ruined pier, more than 150 years old, whose broken posts still run out into the waves from the days when Alleppey was a busy trading port.
Just behind the beach stands the Alappuzha Lighthouse, completed in 1862, which visitors can usually climb for views over the coast and the town. The beach is liveliest in the evening, when families come to watch the sunset and snack stalls open along the promenade.
