December to February
The coolest and most comfortable months, with sunny days and cool mornings. This is peak season, and it is also when the Banashankari fair and cultural festivals usually take place.
March
The heat starts to build, but mornings are still pleasant and crowds are thinner. Plan outdoor sightseeing for early morning and late afternoon.
April to June
The hottest part of the year, with temperatures often above 40 °C. The bare rock at the caves and the fort gets very hot. Visit only if you are comfortable with heat, and rest through the afternoon.
July to September
The monsoon brings warm, humid days and showers that rarely last all day. The landscape turns green and there are fewer visitors, but rock steps can be slippery.
When Is Badami Most Crowded?
Badami is busiest from December to February, especially on weekends, over Christmas and New Year, and during the Banashankari fair, usually in January. School and college groups also visit the caves in the winter months.
For a quieter trip, visit in October, November or March, and reach the caves when they open. See the events and festivals in Badami if you want to plan around the fair.
