About Badami Fort
Badami Fort covers the top of the northern hill, across Agastya Lake from the cave temples. The climb takes you up stone steps and through narrow gaps between the red rocks, past old gateways, walls, granaries and watchtowers.
The hill is also home to some of Badami's early Chalukya temples, including the Upper and Lower Shivalaya. From the top you get the widest view in Badami: the lake, the cave temples in the opposite cliff, the Bhutanatha temples and the old town all in one frame. It is far quieter than the caves, which makes it a good place for unhurried photos.
