About Bangalore Palace

Bangalore Palace was completed in 1878 and later became a home of the Wadiyar royal family of Mysore. Its design is said to be inspired by Windsor Castle, and it looks nothing like the rest of the city: grey stone walls, pointed arches, turrets and fortified towers, set behind wide lawns.

Inside, visitors follow an audio-guided route through wood-panelled rooms, royal portraits, old furniture and hunting trophies. The palace is still owned by the royal family, and its large grounds are often used for concerts, exhibitions and weddings.
