Best time to visit Bijapur (Vijayapura)
The best time to visit Bijapur is from October to March, when the weather is dry and mild and you can walk between monuments without struggling in the heat. November to February is the most comfortable stretch, with cool mornings and clear skies.
April and May are very hot, with afternoons often above 40 °C, so sightseeing is only practical early and late in the day. The monsoon from June to September brings some rain and cooler air, but Bijapur is one of the drier parts of Karnataka, so it is not a washout.

October and November
The rains end and the weather cools down. The land around the city is still green, skies are clear and the monuments are quiet, which makes this a good time for photography.
December to February
This is the most pleasant and most popular time to visit. Days are warm and sunny, and early mornings and evenings are cool. In January, the Siddheshwar fair around Makar Sankranti fills the city centre with processions and stalls.
March
The heat starts to build, but mornings are still comfortable. Plan sightseeing for early and late in the day.
April and May
These are the hottest months, with afternoons often above 40 °C. If you visit, start at dawn, rest indoors through the afternoon and head out again in the late afternoon. Monuments are at their quietest.
June to September
The monsoon brings warm, humid days and passing showers, but less rain than in most of Karnataka. The heat eases, the fields turn green and crowds are low, though paths around the monuments can be muddy after rain.
When Is Bijapur Most Crowded?
Bijapur is busiest from December to February, during school holidays and on weekends, when school groups and families fill Gol Gumbaz. The Siddheshwar fair in January also brings large crowds to the city centre.
Even in peak season, Bijapur is far quieter than India's big tourist cities. For a calmer visit, come on a weekday in October, November or March, and reach Gol Gumbaz as soon as it opens.
