Carry a windcheater, as the summit is cold and windy.

Carry water, as there are only a few stalls near the top.

Stop at Seethalayanagiri on the way, as it is on the same road.

About Mullayanagiri

Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka, at about 1,930 m, and sits in the Baba Budan range about 20 km from Chikmagalur. A narrow, winding road climbs most of the way, and the last stretch is a climb of several hundred stone steps to a small temple on the summit.

From the top, grassy ridges and forest stretch away in every direction, and on clear mornings you can see far across the Malnad hills. Clouds and mist often cover the summit later in the day. Since September 2025, private vehicles have needed a pass booked online in advance, with a daily limit and morning and afternoon slots.
