Best time to visit Coimbatore
The best time to visit Coimbatore is from December to February, when the weather is dry and pleasant, and the mornings are cool. It is the easiest season for the drive out to Adiyogi, the climb at Marudhamalai and day trips to Ooty.
Coimbatore is milder than most of Tamil Nadu because of its height and the breeze through the Palakkad Gap. It gets rain from both monsoons, with the heaviest showers in October and November, while April and May are the hottest months.

Plan a monsoon day →Best Month to Visit Coimbatore
December to February
The best months for sightseeing. Skies are mostly clear, days are warm but comfortable, and early mornings can feel cool. Pongal in mid-January makes this a lively time, although travel can be busy around the holiday.
March to May
The hot season. April and May are the warmest months, with strong sun in the middle of the day. Go out early and late, and use the heat as a reason to head up to Ooty or Coonoor.
June to September
The southwest monsoon brings breezy weather and light showers to Coimbatore, but much less rain than Kerala across the hills. It is a good time for green hills, though forest sites such as Kovai Kutralam can close after heavy rain in the Ghats.
October and November
The northeast monsoon brings Coimbatore's heaviest rain, often in afternoon and evening showers. The hills turn green and the falls fill up, but carry an umbrella and keep plans flexible.
When Is Coimbatore Most Crowded?
The Isha centre is at its busiest on Maha Shivaratri (usually February or March), and on weekends and holidays, when the evening light show draws big crowds. Marudhamalai gets packed during Thai Poosam and Skanda Sashti, and on weekends.
For a quieter trip, visit the temples early on a weekday and go to Adiyogi on a weekday afternoon.
