Best time to visit Indore

The best time to visit Indore is from October to March, when days are warm, nights are cool, and walking the old city and eating late at Sarafa are comfortable. November to February is the most pleasant part of that window.

April to June is very hot, with afternoons often around 40 °C. The monsoon from July to September brings heavy rain, but also green countryside, full waterfalls and the season for bhutte ka kees. Festivals like Rangpanchami in March and Anant Chaturdashi, usually in September, are worth planning around.

Best Month to Visit Indore

October

The rain has usually cleared by October, and days are warm, in the low 30s °C, with cooler nights. Navratri and Dussehra often fall this month, and Diwali in October or November lights up the markets.

November to February

The most comfortable months, with afternoons around 26–30 °C and nights down to about 10 °C in December and January. Skies are clear, and this is the best time for sightseeing, day trips and long nights at Sarafa. Look out for garadu, a winter snack.

March

The heat returns, with afternoons in the mid-30s °C. Holi and Rangpanchami, five days later, bring colour to the old city.

April to June

The hottest months, with afternoons around 38–40 °C and sometimes much hotter in May. Sightsee early in the morning and after sunset, rest in the afternoon and carry plenty of water. The monsoon usually arrives in the second half of June.

July to September

The monsoon brings heavy showers, especially in July and August, and the city and countryside turn green. It is the season for bhutte ka kees, and waterfalls like Patalpani are at their fullest. Ganesh Chaturthi and the Anant Chaturdashi procession usually fall in late August or September.

When Is Indore Most Crowded?

Weekends and holidays are the busiest times in Indore, especially around Diwali and the winter holidays, when Sarafa and the temples are packed. Khajrana Ganesh Temple draws its biggest crowds on Wednesdays, Sundays and during Ganesh Chaturthi, and the old city is at its most crowded on Rangpanchami and Anant Chaturdashi.

The next Simhastha Kumbh Mela in nearby Ujjain is due in 2028, when hotels across the region fill fast. For a quieter trip, visit on weekdays in November or February.
