About Khajrana Ganesh Temple
Khajrana Ganesh Temple is one of the most visited temples in Indore. Local tradition credits Ahilyabai Holkar with building it in 1735, after a priest saw the Ganesh idol in a dream and it was brought out of a well where it had been hidden during Aurangzeb's reign.
What began as a small shrine has grown into a large complex, with silver on the gate and outer walls of the sanctum. Many devotees believe prayers made here are answered, and the crowds are biggest on Wednesdays, Sundays and during Ganesh Chaturthi. The temple is in the east of the city, about 6 km from Rajwada.
