Best Month to Visit Jabalpur

October

The rains end and the Narmada is still high, so Dhuandhar Falls is at its fullest once the falls area reopens, usually around the middle of the month, along with the boats and the ropeway. Navratri and Dussehra fall in September or October, and Sharad Purnima usually in October, so the city is lively but busy.

November to February

The most comfortable months, with warm, sunny days and cool nights. December and January nights can drop to around 10 °C or lower, so bring a warm layer. This is peak season at Bhedaghat and a good time for safaris at Kanha and Bandhavgarh.

March

Days get hotter, but mornings and evenings are still pleasant for sightseeing. Holi usually falls in March.

April to June

The hottest time of the year, with May afternoons often above 40 °C. The boats usually run until mid-June, so visit Bhedaghat early in the morning or late in the afternoon and rest through the midday heat.

July to September

The monsoon brings heavy rain, especially in July and August, and the city turns green. In recent years the boats, the ropeway and the Dhuandhar Falls area at Bhedaghat have been closed from mid-June to mid-October, and the core zones of Kanha and Bandhavgarh also close for the season. Check before you travel.

When Is Jabalpur Most Crowded?

Bhedaghat is busiest on weekends, public holidays, the Diwali break and the Christmas–New Year week, when day-trippers arrive from the city and beyond. Sharad Purnima brings big crowds to the ghat for the Narmada Mahotsav, and Gwarighat fills up on Narmada Jayanti in January or February.

For a quieter trip, visit Bhedaghat on a weekday morning and see the city sights in the late afternoon. See events and festivals in Jabalpur for what is on through the year.
