Where to Eat in Kalimpong
Kalimpong's restaurants are small, family-run and mostly in or near the Main Bazaar. The old momo houses are the reason to come, and a couple of cafés give you a view with your coffee.

Not sure what to order? The Kalimpong food guide starts from the dishes — what each one is, when to eat it, and which of these kitchens is known for it.
Gompu's
Gompu's is a long-running bar and restaurant in the Main Bazaar, known above all for its large pork momos. The menu covers Tibetan and Chinese dishes, including thukpa and noodles. It is a good first stop on arrival and is usually busy at lunch.
3 C's Restaurant
3 C's is a cosy place for momos, thukpa, noodles and Indo-Chinese food. It is useful for a quick, filling meal between sights, and the portions suit a hungry day on the hills.
Art Café
Art Café is on the lower side of town, on Rishi Road near the library, with outdoor seating and a view over the hills. Come for coffee, cake, pizza or pasta, and for a slow hour in the sun on a clear day. Check its opening days before you go.
Kalimpong Café (King Thai)
This is listed for coffee, baked goods, the local cheese and light meals. It is a good place to try Kalimpong cheese if the grocers have run out.
Market stalls
The Haat Bazaar on Wednesdays and Saturdays has plates of momos and local snacks at stalls, cheaper than any restaurant. Pick a stall with a steady queue and food cooked in front of you.
Timing your meals
Kalimpong closes early. Most kitchens stop taking orders by about 8 or 9 pm, and the streets are quiet soon after. On days out at the Teesta, eat in Teesta Bazaar or carry snacks, as the road back up can be slow.
Paying
Small places often prefer cash or UPI, and card machines are not always working. Carry some cash for stalls and taxis.
