About Palaruvi Falls
Palaruvi Falls is a tall forest waterfall in the Western Ghats at Aryankavu, in the east of Kollam district near the Tamil Nadu border. Its name means "stream of milk", after the white, frothy water that drops about 300 feet down the rock face. The falls are surrounded by thick forest and managed by the Forest Department as an eco-tourism site.
Palaruvi is a seasonal waterfall. It is at its most powerful during and after the monsoon, and runs much lower in the dry months. The drive from Kollam through the hills is long but scenic, and many visitors combine the falls with Thenmala, a short drive away, to make a full day trip.
