October and November
The monsoon ends, although you may still get some heavy showers, especially in October. The countryside is green, and Thusharagiri Falls is still full. A good time for fewer crowds.
December to February
These are the driest and most comfortable months, with clear skies and good sunsets over the sea. It is the peak season, with the Beypore Water Fest usually in December and the Kerala Literature Festival usually in January.
March to May
The heat and humidity build up, and the middle of the day is tiring. Plan sightseeing for early morning and late afternoon, and spend the hot hours indoors.
June to September
The monsoon brings heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas, and heavy rain alerts are common. Waterfalls are at their fullest, but forest paths get slippery and some sites may close in bad weather. Check the forecast and local alerts before you travel.
When Is Kozhikode Most Crowded?
Kozhikode is busiest from December to January, around Christmas and New Year, and during big events such as the Kerala Literature Festival. The beach is crowded every evening, especially on weekends and holidays, and Onam and Eid bring big family crowds.
For a quieter trip, visit in October–November or February, and go to the beach before sunset rather than at the peak of the evening.
