About Kadri Manjunatha Temple
Kadri Manjunatha Temple sits at the foot of Kadri Hill, a few kilometres from central Mangalore, and is one of the oldest temples in the city. It is dedicated to Shiva as Manjunatha, and is known for its bronze images, including a seated Lokeshwara figure with an inscription that is usually dated to 968 CE.
Behind the temple, steps lead up to a natural spring called Gomukha, which feeds a series of stone tanks on the hillside. Further up are the Pandava Caves, small laterite caves linked to local legend. The mix of red-tiled shrines, water and green hillside makes this one of the most peaceful places in the city.
