About St Aloysius Chapel

St Aloysius Chapel stands on Lighthouse Hill, inside the St Aloysius College campus, and was built in the early 1880s. Its walls and ceiling are almost completely covered in paintings by the Italian Jesuit artist Antonio Moscheni, showing scenes from the Bible and the life of St Aloysius Gonzaga.

The paintings are the reason people come, and they are often compared to Italian church art. Photography is not allowed inside, to protect the artwork, so plan to spend your time looking rather than shooting. The chapel is still used for worship, so visit quietly and outside service times.
