About Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple
The Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple stands in Nandi village at the foot of Nandi Hills, about 8 km from Chikkaballapur. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and dates back to the 9th century. Several dynasties added to it over the following centuries, so the complex shows different styles of carving, from its pillared halls to its towers and shrines.
The highlight for most visitors is the large stepped tank, called the Kalyani, with stone steps on all sides. The temple is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India and is much less crowded than the hilltop, which makes it a good stop on the way back to Bengaluru after the sunrise.
