About Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple
The Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple is an old Shiva temple on the top of Nandi Hills, inside the walls of the hill fort. It dates back to the Chola period and was added to by later rulers, and it is known for its carved stone pillars and walls.
It is smaller and calmer than the Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple at the foot of the hill. By tradition, it represents the final, renunciation stage of Shiva's life, while the temple below represents his youth. Most visitors stop here on a walk between the sunrise point, Amrutha Sarovar and Tipu's Drop.
