Devalia Safari Park, officially the Gir Interpretation Zone, is a fenced area of about 4 sq km of Gir forest, about 12 km from Sasan. Lions, leopards, spotted deer, sambar and nilgai live here in a natural setting, so a short drive gives a good chance of a sighting.
You tour the park by bus or in a safari jeep on drives of under an hour, which suits families and anyone who missed out on a permit for the main park. It is closed every Wednesday and usually stays open through the monsoon, when the main park is shut.
