About Sabarmati Riverfront & Atal Bridge

The Sabarmati Riverfront is a landscaped promenade along both banks of the Sabarmati River, with about 11 km of walkway on each side. The first stretches opened in 2012, and it is now where the city comes to walk, jog and watch the sunset. The riverfront also hosts big events such as the International Kite Festival and the annual flower show.

The Atal Bridge, a 300 m footbridge opened in 2022, links the Flower Park on the west bank with the east bank. Its steel frame and roof of coloured fabric panels are inspired by the kites of Uttarayan, and at night the whole bridge is lit up, which makes it a favourite spot for evening photos.
