Best Month to Visit Bhopal

October and November

The rains have cleared, the lakes are full and the countryside is still green. Days are warm and evenings are cool. Diwali usually falls in this period, and the Aalami Tablighi Ijtema is usually held in November, when the city gets very busy.

December to February

These are the coolest months, with clear skies and comfortable days. Nights can be cold, especially in January, so pack a warm layer. This is peak season, and Lokrang brings folk and tribal performances to the city in January.

March

Days warm up quickly, but mornings are still pleasant. Holi and Rangpanchami fill the streets with colour, and Van Vihar is closed on both days.

April to June

Very hot and dry, with temperatures often above 40 °C, and May is usually the hottest month. Sightsee early and late, and spend the middle of the day indoors at places like Bharat Bhavan or the Tribal Museum.

July to September

The monsoon usually arrives in late June and lasts until late September. The lakes fill, the city turns green and the air cools, but expect humid days and heavy showers. Rain tends to come in spells, so keep your plans flexible.

When Is Bhopal Most Crowded?

Bhopal is busiest from December to February, around Diwali and over the Christmas and New Year holidays. The Upper Lake promenade and the Boat Club are crowded on weekend evenings all year round.

The Aalami Tablighi Ijtema, usually held in November, brings hundreds of thousands of people to the city, so hotels fill up and roads can be jammed. For a quieter trip, visit on weekdays and see popular places like Sanchi and Van Vihar early in the day.
