October
The rains have usually ended, the hills are still green and the lakes and stepwells hold plenty of water. Days can still be warm, but evenings are pleasant. A good month for photographs.
November to February
The most comfortable months, with clear skies and cool mornings. December and January nights can be cold, so pack a warm layer. Bundi Utsav usually falls in November, and this is also the busiest time of year.
March
The weather starts to warm up, but mornings are still pleasant and the crowds thin out. Holi usually falls in March.
April to June
The hottest months, with midday temperatures often above 40 °C. If you visit, sightsee at dawn and in the late afternoon, and rest indoors in the middle of the day.
July to September
The monsoon brings on-and-off showers, humid days and green hills. The lakes fill up, and waterfalls near Bundi, such as the one at Rameshwar Mahadev, start to flow. Stone steps get slippery, so take care at the palace and stepwells. Kajli Teej, one of Bundi's own festivals, usually falls in August or September.
When Is Bundi Most Crowded?
Bundi is a quiet town for most of the year. It is busiest during Bundi Utsav in November, around Diwali, and over the Christmas and New Year holidays, when rooms fill up and prices go up.
For a quieter trip with good weather, visit in October, February or March, and start sightseeing early in the day.
