Satapada
Ansupa Restaurant is a lakeside place known for Chilika crab and prawns, cooked in Odia gravies. Come for lunch after the dolphin boat returns, and ask what the day's catch is.
Dolphin Dhaba is a simpler, cheaper stop near the jetty for a quick plate of rice, dal and fish curry. It suits a breakfast before an early boat or a fast lunch before the drive back to Puri.
Barkul
OTDC Panthanivas Barkul is the state tourism guesthouse on the western shore, with a restaurant facing the water. Expect Odia thalis, macha besara, prawns and simple north Indian dishes. Boats to Kalijai and Nalabana leave from nearby, so it makes an easy base for meals.
Rambha
OTDC Panthanivas Rambha has the only proper restaurant in this quiet corner. Prawn malai curry and pakhala in the hot months are good choices. It is also where boats to Breakfast Island leave from, and staff can pack food for the trip.
