The monsoon has just ended, so the hill is still green and the air is clear. Days are warm and evenings get cooler. Meera Mahotsav usually falls in October, and Diwali in October or November.

December and January

The coolest months, with sunny days and cold mornings and nights. This is the most comfortable time for a full day in the fort, so pack a warm layer.

April to June

The hottest part of the year, with afternoons often above 40 °C. Visit the fort as soon as it opens, rest in the middle of the day and go back out for the evening.

The monsoon brings showers, humidity and green fields around the fort. Rain rarely lasts all day, but stone paths can be slippery, so wear shoes with a good grip.

When Is Chittorgarh Most Crowded?

Chittorgarh is busiest from October to March, especially over Diwali, Christmas and New Year, and on winter weekends when day-trippers come from Udaipur. The fort is also crowded during the Jauhar Mela, and hotels fill up around it.
