About Lighthouse Beach

Lighthouse Beach is the southernmost and busiest of Kovalam's three beaches, and the one most people picture when they think of Kovalam. Its curved sweep of sand ends at a rocky headland topped by the red-and-white Vizhinjam Lighthouse, and a paved promenade behind the beach is lined with seafood restaurants, cafés and small shops.

The beach is at its liveliest in the evening, when people gather to watch the sun set over the Arabian Sea and the café lights come on. Lifeguards mark the swimming zones with flags, and the sea here can be rough, so check with them before you go in.
