About the Dilwara Temples

The Dilwara Temples are a group of five Jain temples about 2–3 km from the centre of Mount Abu, built between the 11th and 13th centuries. The oldest, Vimal Vasahi, is dedicated to Adinatha, and Luna Vasahi is dedicated to Neminatha. From outside they look plain, but inside the ceilings, pillars and doorways are covered in fine white-marble carving.

The temples are an active place of worship, and the rules are strict. Non-Jain visitors are usually allowed in only around midday to late afternoon, phones and cameras are not allowed inside, and leather items have to be left outside. Guided tours are often available at the entrance and help you understand what you are looking at.
