Best Month to Visit Murudeshwar

October and November

The rains ease, the hills behind the coast are still green and the sea settles down. Netrani dive trips usually restart in October, and crowds are lighter than in December.

December to February

Peak season. Days are warm and dry, the sea is at its calmest and underwater visibility at Netrani is usually at its best. Expect more visitors around Christmas, New Year and long weekends.

March to May

It gets hot and very humid, so see the temple early and spend the middle of the day indoors. Diving usually continues, but visibility can drop. Mahashivaratri, in February or March, brings large crowds to the temple.

June to September

The monsoon brings heavy rain, strong wind and big waves. Netrani trips stop, water sports close and you should stay out of the sea. The temple stays open, and the coast is green and dramatic if you do not mind the rain.

When Is Murudeshwar Most Crowded?

Murudeshwar is busiest from December to January, on weekends and public holidays, and on festival days such as Mahashivaratri. School trips and day-trip buses also fill the temple and beach from late morning.

For a quieter visit, go on a weekday in October, November or February, and reach the temple soon after it opens.
