About the Government Botanical Garden

The Government Botanical Garden was laid out in 1848 on the slopes of Doddabetta, close to Charing Cross, and covers about 55 acres of terraced lawns, flower beds and old trees. Highlights include an Italian-style garden, glasshouses, a fern house and a fossilised tree trunk estimated to be around 20 million years old.
