Best time to visit Pachmarhi
The best time to visit Pachmarhi is from October to April, when the days are pleasant and the skies are usually clear. December and January bring the coldest nights, which can dip close to freezing, although it does not snow.
May and June are hot by afternoon, but Pachmarhi stays cooler than the plains around it, which is why it fills up in the summer holidays. The monsoon, from July to September, brings heavy rain, mist and waterfalls at their fullest, and suits travellers who want green hills more than clear views.

October and November
The rain clears, the forest is still green and the waterfalls are still running. Days are warm and pleasant and nights turn cool, which makes this a good time for sightseeing and for clear sunsets from Dhupgarh.
December to February
The coolest months, with sunny days and cold nights that can drop close to freezing in December and January. This is peak season, especially around Christmas and New Year, so book your stay and Gypsy trips early.
March and April
Days warm up, with afternoons often in the low 30s °C by April, but mornings and evenings stay comfortable. The waterfalls run lower, and in some years the Mahashivratri mela falls in March.
May and June
The hottest months, with afternoons often reaching the mid-30s °C, although it is still cooler than the plains. The summer holidays make this a busy season, and the monsoon usually arrives in the second half of June.
July to September
The monsoon brings heavy rain, especially in July and August, along with mist, green forest and full waterfalls. Steps and paths get slippery, and some water points can close at short notice after heavy rain. Jeep safaris in the core of the Satpura Tiger Reserve usually stop from July to September, and the Nagdwari Yatra takes place around Nag Panchami.
When Is Pachmarhi Most Crowded?
Pachmarhi is busiest in May and June, when families come up from the hot plains during the school holidays, and over Diwali, Christmas and New Year. Pilgrim crowds peak at the Mahashivratri mela (February or March) and during the Nagdwari Yatra (July or August), when rooms, roads and temples are all packed.
For a quieter trip, visit on weekdays in October–November or February–March, away from the festival dates, and book the Dhupgarh sunset trip a day ahead in any season.
