Where to Eat in Shirdi
Most people in Shirdi eat at least one meal at the temple trust's Prasadalaya. For the other meals, the restaurants on the main roads around the temple serve reliable vegetarian thalis and breakfasts.

Not sure what to order? The Shirdi food guide starts from the dishes — what each one is, when to eat it, and which of these kitchens is known for it.
Sai Prasadalaya
The trust's dining hall stands a short walk from the temple, behind the Shirdi police station. It is one of the largest free kitchens in the country, and the ground floor alone seats a few thousand people at a time. Everyone sits in rows and eats the same satvik thali: dal, rice, chapati, two vegetables and a sweet.
The ground-floor meal is free, but you need a token. The trust gives these out after darshan, and guests at its own Bhakta Niwas lodgings get them in their rooms. Paid halls upstairs have tables and a shorter wait. Lunch and dinner are served in sittings; check the timings when you collect your token.
Hotel Sai Palace Restaurant, Pimpalwadi Road
Listed as a family restaurant for vegetarian thalis, North Indian dishes and South Indian breakfasts. It is a good choice for a sit-down meal after darshan, and it serves misal pav in the morning.
Shri Sai Sagar, Station Road
Listed as a busy vegetarian place for idli, dosa, chaat and thalis. Come here for a quick breakfast, and for sabudana khichdi on a fasting day.
Annapurna Restaurant, Nagar-Manmad Road
Listed for Maharashtrian and North Indian vegetarian meals, with a full thali at lunch and puran poli when it is on. The main road carries a lot of traffic, so it suits people staying on that side of town.
Tips for eating well
Eat before you join a long queue, because you cannot take food or water bottles inside. Breakfast places open early for pilgrims coming out of the Kakad Aarti. On Thursdays and festival days everything near the temple is busier, and the Prasadalaya queue can be long. Almost everything near the shrines is pure vegetarian. For what to order, see the Shirdi food guide.
Questions
Shirdi — FAQ
Where should I eat in Shirdi?
4 places are listed here, across 4 areas. Each entry says what that kitchen is known for rather than reprinting its menu, so pick by the dish you want and the area you'll be in.
Are there good vegetarian restaurants in Shirdi?
Yes — 2 of the places listed are pure vegetarian, and the food-type badge on every card tells you before you set out.
What should I order in Shirdi?
Start from the dishes rather than the restaurants — the Shirdi food guide covers what each dish is and when to eat it, then links to the places that do it well.
How do I get a token for the Shirdi Prasadalaya?
The trust hands out free meal tokens after darshan. If you are staying at one of its Bhakta Niwas buildings, the tokens are given in your room. Paid tickets for the upstairs halls are sold at counters at the Prasadalaya.
How far is the Prasadalaya from the temple?
It is a short walk, behind the Shirdi police station. Ask anyone for the Prasadalaya; everyone knows it.
Where can I get breakfast before the Kakad Aarti?
Plan to eat after it rather than before, since the aarti starts at about 5:15 am and few kitchens are ready that early. Places on Station Road and in the temple lanes serve misal pav and South Indian breakfasts from early morning.
