About Fateh Sagar Lake
Fateh Sagar is a large lake to the north of Lake Pichola, surrounded by the Aravalli hills. It is named after Maharana Fateh Singh, who rebuilt its dam in the late 19th century. The lake has three islands, and the largest holds Nehru Park, a public garden reached by boat.
The road along the dam, known as Fateh Sagar Pal, is one of Udaipur's favourite places for an evening walk. Families, students and couples come for the sunset, the cool breeze off the water and the tea and snack stalls along the promenade. It feels more local and relaxed than the tourist areas around Lake Pichola.
