Jardí del Túria
Valencia, Comunidad Valenciana
Nine kilometres of park in the bed of a river that no longer runs through it. After the flood of 1957 the Turia was diverted south of the city; the empty channel was nearly turned into a motorway and became instead a continuous garden, crossed by the eighteen old bridges and threaded through the middle of the city.

Local tips
It is the fastest way across Valencia and the pleasantest: the park runs from the western edge to the City of Arts at the sea end, entirely below street level and crossing no traffic.
Bikes belong on the paved bike lane only. The dirt track beside it is for runners, the pedestrian paths for walking, and the local police patrol the park and fine for it — this is the rule visitors on rental bikes break first.
Gulliver, near the eastern end, is a seventy-metre reclining figure built as a climbing frame with slides for hair and fingers. It is free, it is for children, and adults use it anyway.
The bridges are the history: some are sixteenth-century stone, one is Calatrava's white harp, and you walk under all of them in sequence without crossing a road.

📸 The shot
Gardens want layers - a path that leads the eye, an arch that frames, colour blocks rather than single blooms.
Start from the recommended angle (from the parapet of one of the old bridges, looking along the sunken channel so the next bridges stack behind each other) and work outward; it is the composition the spot rewards.
🕐 Light and timing
Time the visit for the window that suits the shot - the hour before sunset, when the low light comes down the channel between the bridge arches and the runners are out - and let everything else flex.
Crowds run medium - patience clears most frames, and the busiest minutes pass if you stand still through them.
🧵 Colour and clothing
Of the colours that suit this spot, cream photographs softer than white and suits heritage backdrops. The pose rows on this page are built for the spot - start with the one about on the steps down into the river bed with a bridge arch overhead and adapt from there.
