About the Basilica of Bom Jesus
The Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa was completed in 1605 and holds the relics of St Francis Xavier, one of the most important Catholic saints in Asia. It is part of the Churches and Convents of Goa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the most visited churches in India.
The front of the church is bare red-brown laterite stone, which sets it apart from the white churches around it. Inside, the gilded altars and the saint's silver casket are the main sights.
