About Palolem Beach
Palolem is a curved bay in Canacona, in the far south of Goa, with rocky headlands at each end and palm trees along the sand. The headlands shelter the water, so the sea is usually calmer than on the open beaches of North Goa, which makes Palolem popular with families.
In the dry season, colourful huts, cafés and shacks line the back of the beach, and fishing boats offer early-morning trips to look for dolphins and rides to nearby Butterfly Beach. Most huts and shacks are taken down before the monsoon, when the sea becomes rough and swimming is not allowed.
