Food place in Jaipur
Tapri Central
C-Scheme, Jaipur
The best-known tea-and-view rooftop in Jaipur, on Sardar Patel Marg in C-Scheme. 'Tapri' is the Hindi word for a roadside tea stall, and the concept is exactly that lifted onto a terrace: cutting chai, pakora and toast, with a view over the city and a book shop below. It is not a restaurant in the traditional sense and it is not where you go for Rajasthani food — it is where you go at five in the afternoon for an hour and a photograph.

What it actually is
A tea stall on a rooftop. Cutting chai, pakora, toast, sandwiches and light meals, with a terrace view over C-Scheme and a bookshop on the floor below. It is a place to sit for an hour, not a place to dine.
🌇 When to go
Sunset is the reason people come, and the reason it is busy. If you want the terrace view at golden hour, arrive at least 45 minutes before sunset and expect to wait for a table, especially at weekends.
Late morning is the quiet window. Same view, no queue, and you can actually sit.
Monsoon evenings are the classic Jaipur version of this. Chai and pakora on a terrace while it rains is a genuine local ritual, and this is where it is done.
🍵 What to order
- Cutting chai, the standard and the point
- Pakora or bread pakora — the correct companion
- Masala chai if you want it spiced rather than plain
Do not come expecting Rajasthani food. For laal maas and gatte ki sabzi go to Spice Court, Niros or Handi; for a thali go to Chokhi Dhani.
📍 Getting there
- Sardar Patel Marg, C-Scheme — about 10 minutes west of the old city
- Uber and Ola both operate in Jaipur
- Parking on Sardar Patel Marg is difficult in the evening; get dropped
- Combine with Peacock Rooftop in Bani Park if you want two terraces in one day, though they serve different purposes
