The year in Pushkar
Pushkar's calendar runs through most of the year, with the busiest weeks in the clear, comfortable months and a quieter stretch in the heaviest rain. Broadly, Oct – Mar is when visiting is most comfortable here, and that is when the calendar is busiest — which also means accommodation is most expensive and books furthest ahead.
Most of these follow lunar calendars and move by weeks from year to year, so treat the windows below as the season rather than the date, and confirm the year’s dates before you book around one.

Pushkar's calendar is built around the lake. The biggest event of the year is the Pushkar Camel Fair, held in the Hindu month of Kartik and ending on Kartik Purnima, usually in November. Camel and cattle traders gather on the fair ground, while hundreds of thousands of pilgrims come to bathe in the lake on the full moon. Alongside the trading there are folk music, dance, competitions and a large funfair.
Holi is also celebrated with a lot of energy in Pushkar, and Diwali lights up the ghats and temples. Every evening, the aarti at the lake brings pilgrims and visitors together at sunset. Festival dates follow the Hindu lunar calendar and change each year, so check the dates before you book.
