About Trichy
Trichy, officially Tiruchirappalli, sits on the banks of the Cauvery in central Tamil Nadu. It is a working city first and a temple town second, but the temples are what bring most visitors. The Rockfort, a huge rock in the old town with a Ganesha shrine on its summit, looks down on the river, and across the water lies Srirangam, an island town built around the vast Ranganathaswamy Temple.
Most sights are close together, so two days is enough for the main ones. Climb the Rockfort early in the morning, spend a long morning or late afternoon at Srirangam, and walk over to the Shiva temple at Thiruvanaikaval nearby. Add Our Lady of Lourdes Church in the city and a short drive out to Kallanai, the old Chola-era dam on the Cauvery. Between visits, stop for filter coffee, crisp dosas and a banana-leaf meal.

How do I reach Trichy?
Trichy has its own airport, a few kilometres from the city centre, with flights from Chennai, Bengaluru and some international routes. The city's main railway station is on the busy Chennai–Madurai line, and buses and taxis connect the city with Chennai, about 320 km away, as well as Thanjavur and Madurai.
Is Srirangam part of Trichy?
